Bat Pagoda (Chùa Dơi) or Mahatup Pagoda (Chùa Mã Tộc) is a Theravada Buddhism Pagoda which is located on Le Hong Phong Street, Soc Trang City. The temple is the home to thousands of bats, that is reason name of the pagoda came into being. The temple is only cultural space to worship Sakyamuni Buddha of Khmer community in the city. The Bat Pagoda was built in 1569, which is more than 450 years old. Initially, the main hall of the pagoda was made of bamboos and leaves, then rebuilt with bricks.
