Mount St. Helens, Washington
Mount St. Helens is about 50 miles NE of Portland, Oregon, and it’s a wonder of natural beauty. It’s an active volcano in the Cascade mountain range in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. May 18, 2020 was the 40th anniversary of a notorious earthquake and volcanic eruption that blew off almost 2000 feet from the Northern face and summit, which resulted in the largest debris avalanche in modern recorded history. The indigenous Peoples tell a story of the mountain being a jealous wife who is throwing stones at her husband’s mistress, the nearby Mount Reiner.
